In other words, there will be no judge nor jury. Furthermore, no one’s standing behind a lectern demanding your attention. Why? Because Dear Char, is you! And, this is about you, your life and your choices!

Without a doubt, achieving the optimal healthy lifestyle is to be commended. Yet for many, the emotional cost is too high. As a result, the stress to maintain this level often leads to failure.
Therefore, Dear Char, is not a typical “wellness” nor “healthy lifestyle” site. Meaning, it’s not all or nothing. Rather it’s a “Live Life Well” site!
Physical & Emotional Balance are Key!
Most of us co-exist with the “pleasures” in life. When indulging, we’re often met with feelings of guilt. Why? So often these “pleasures” are deemed unhealthy. As in “bad” for us. As a result, we’re in a constant state of flux. In essence, this pressure to maintain “healthy” at all times, creates stress.
In contrast, what if we “allowed” ourselves to enjoy these “pleasures”, (within reason), without guilt? And, we balance the physical and emotional elements that comprise our lifestyle? Without a doubt, there’d be a lot less stress!
Of note, Dear Char, does not advocate to poor health nor support abusive behavior.
The following examples are partial conversations with clients. The first illustrates guilt by a guy who “indulged” and trained. On account of consuming a dessert, he felt guilt.
Tony: “Char, last night I had a piece of key lime pie!”
Char: “Was it good?”
Tony: “Yeah, it was!”
Char: “So why are we standing here talking about it? I’m glad you enjoyed it!”
The next example demonstrates what happened when the stress for ‘perfect’ became too great.
Mari was placed on a long term restricted calorie diet. In addition, her “pleasure”, was chocolate, placed on the forbidden list. As a consequence of the severe dietary restrictions, check how this instance played out.
Mari: “Char, I went grocery shopping yesterday. Told myself I wouldn’t go down aisle 9, the candy aisle. I made it to check out and was perfect. Drove home, emptied out the groceries!”
Mari: “5 minutes later I started eating everything around me till I was stuffed. I hated all of it!”
Char: “Let’s ‘up’ your cardio for a few days and perhaps add a small amount of chocolate back into your diet.”
By the way, she had no issue, i.e. diabetes.
Set Real & Lasting Goals!
In order for this process to work, focus on ‘real’ goals. Meaning, strive for goals within your reach! Yet, to succeed, it’ll take hard work, perseverance and a strong desire to achieve results!
At the same time, consider the bigger, lifelong picture. On account of achieving the short term goals, contemplate your long term ones as well. Meaning the transitional stage, as in, what comes next.
Or, if you’ve chosen a temporary short term goal? Then acknowledge the type of goal from the start.
Lastly, consider your lifestyle! Although you may achieve goals through changing your lifestyle, the odds are not high. However, a positive outcome is far more likely when you factor in your current lifestyle! Meaning, fit the means of obtaining those goals in with your lifestyle.
To illustrate, read the following examples of super motivated goals! However, if and once achieved, there’s a dilemma.
>For instance, develop a perfect, symmetrical, muscular physique. Once attained, what’s the forever after plan?
>In similar fashion, “appear” 20 years younger and 20 pounds lighter. Once achieved, what happens the next day?
>Or, the love of your life. And then, someone new arrives?
In summary, choose your goals wisely. Otherwise, they may end up as fantasies, always elusive. If attempting to become the “world’s best” sounds daunting? Then become “your best”! For you! Who knows, maybe the world is about to find out!
